Souvenirs worth hunting for at the National Museum of Korea shops

Self-paid. The blogger paid for this visit.

The National Museum of Korea runs several shops under its MU:DS brand, selling well-designed souvenirs based on Korean artifacts. Look for pensive-bodhisattva miniatures, celadon cups and mother-of-pearl tech, and buy what you like on the spot because popular items sell out fast.

Is it for you?

Go forKorean-themed items you can actually use, spread across several shops with different stock. Items that sell out at other museums are often easier to find here.
Skip ifYou want cheap souvenirs. Many items are pricey, such as a dancheong mechanical keyboard at ₩119,700, and the main shop gets crowded and tight for strollers.

Good to know

  • Shop 1, the largest, is on the first floor of the West Wing by the lockers, before the security check.
  • Shop 2 is in the center of the first floor inside the Permanent Exhibition Hall, with smaller items like postcards and umbrellas.
  • Special exhibitions often have their own pop-up shop with items you will not find elsewhere.
  • The MU:DS brand hall on the third floor has giant Ryan and Choonsik plush figures for photos.
  • There is also an online shop at museumshop.or.kr if you run out of luggage space.
