Korean beef hot pot and soju in an old Euljiro alley

Self-paid. The blogger paid for this visit.

A busy Korean pub in the old alleys near Euljiro 3-ga Station, known for a big pot of hanwoo (Korean beef) suyuk simmered over minari. The Haok set adds bluefin tuna and a spicy beef salad, enough for two with drinks.

뜨끈한 수육전골을 먹다가 차갑고 부드러운 참다랑어를 한 점씩 먹으니 메뉴 조합도 생각보다 잘 어울렸어요.

Hot beef stew, then a cold, soft slice of tuna, then back again. The combo works better than you'd think.

Is it for you?

Go forThe hanwoo suyuk hot pot comes heaped with several cuts, from lean to chewy, over minari that soaks up the broth as it simmers. Dip the beef in the scallion soy sauce. The set lets two people try three dishes at once: the hot pot, thick-cut bluefin tuna to wrap in seaweed, and a spicy, tangy beef and minari salad.
Skip ifYou want a quiet dinner. It gets loud and packed in the evening, often with a wait, and the sets and hot pots are made for sharing.

Good to know

  • Order on the tablet at your table.
  • Evenings fill up fast. The blogger came early in the evening and got a table with no wait.
  • Let the hot pot simmer a little longer. The broth gets deeper as the beef and greens cook.
  • Wrap the tuna in seaweed with a little wasabi.
  • No parking at the restaurant. Use a public lot nearby.
  • After dinner, walk the Euljiro alleys as the signs light up, then head down to Cheonggyecheon Stream.
