이런 무료 시음회는 아는 사람만 방문하는 느낌이라 조금 더 많은 사람들이 알아줬으면 하는 마음에 자세히 적어봤습니다

Free tastings like this feel like something only insiders know about, so I wrote it up in detail hoping more people find it.

Is it for you?

Go forThe tasting is free and small, about 6 to 7 people, led by a traditional liquor sommelier. You try five drinks from low to high strength and hear about each brewery and what food goes with it. Each guest gets three glasses so flavors do not mix. You can rate each drink, get your notes by email, and your feedback goes to the brewers. The blogger came alone and so did most of the group, so solo travelers fit right in.
Skip ifYou do not drink alcohol, or you are under 19. You want to just walk in for the tasting: it needs a booking, and spots open on different dates each month.

On her last day in Seoul, with a bus home to Daegu to catch, the blogger wanted somewhere close and easy. She found this free tasting tucked at the back of the Hansik culture space in Bukchon, where staff in hanbok check you in. She went alone and worried it would be awkward, but almost everyone else came solo too. The sommelier walked the group through five drinks, from a light, fizzy makgeolli to a 30% distilled soju that made even the older guests wince. At the end everyone voted for a favorite. The whole group picked the same two, which made the staff laugh. Her top pick was Baekryeon, a clear rice wine with a lotus aroma. She liked it so much she carried a bottle all the way home, and staff packed it with two ice packs for the trip.
